Welcome to the Greenville Browns Backers Page

The Greenville Browns Backers are located in Greenville, SC.  We were first started in 1984 by Ken Pelanda a long time Cleveland Browns Fan.  Since then we have been in many different locations.  Today we meet on game days at New Realm Brewing in downtown Greenville (see our contact page for more info).  

Browns Fans are Die-Hard

 

A good many of us are from the Cleveland or Northern Ohio Area.  However, our fans are spread far and wide, some were born with the love of the Browns and others, well they grew into it.  Either way most of us are die hard.... we have to be to have a 0-16 season then, then a play off year a couple later, then a 3-14 season just a few more years later.

We are Givers

 

Not only do we give our full support to the Cleveland Browns, the Greenville Browns Backers support local charities like the Service Dogs for Veterans (SD4V.org).  Over the past 3 years we have donated over $4000 to help support their mission of providing veterans with service dogs to help them get by day to day.  To donate to their organization please click on the picture to the left or come by one of our viewing parties and we will get it to them.  

 

We have also donated to the Greenville Humane Society.  Each year we pick a person or family for our fan of year and they get to pick the charity that we donate a portion of the money we raise to.  In 2024-2025 season, Joanie Ripley was chosen as our fan of the year.  Unfortunately she passed away the summer before the season, but we knew that one of her loves was the Greenville Humane Society and we were able to put a nice donation in her name.  (Note: Joanie not pictured here)

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Does becoming a member of the Greenville Browns Backers cost money?

It does not cost anything to join us on Sundays to watch a game.  However, we do have a membership option.  The membership typically costs an annual fee which provides you with an opportunity to get into our half-time drawings.  It also comes with a t-shirt and a guaranteed prize at our holiday party.

Does the Greenville Browns Backers meet at other times?

Historically we have only met during football games, however in 2025 we hosted our first outside event during the draft.  We are thinking of other ideas to meet up during the offseason.  If you have ideas and want to help plan, please reach out to us.

What's it like at the viewing parties?

What would you expect from a bunch of people that support the Cleveland Browns?  Electric.  We have a great time.  We try to include everyone, including the kids.  We welcome everyone, even those supporting other teams (note, we may razz them a bit but it's all in good fun). 

Are there any celebraties there?

Well, funny you should ask.  We have a former player from the last time that Cleveland Browns went to the Championship (yes that was before the superbowl).  Lowell Caylor #22 defensive back from the 1964 Cleveland Browns.  Also we have Dawg Vader, you may have seen a guy on tv from time to time at the games, it's very likely that it's our very own Jim Shaffer.
